2020 Season Update

Last night August 11th, CRYF board members and coaches met to discuss our season and the changes other organizations are making. At this time we are choosing to go forward with the tackle football season and to begin developing other football activities in the event the league or individual teams need to modify their season because of COVID. Extra understanding is requested from parents to follow the rules of our league and your coaches, so that your team will have the best opportunity to stay healthy and have a full season.

Dear Coon Rapids Youth Football families:

The 2020 CRYF season is a go.  CRHS head coach Rusin and his team put on a great week of football camp and we have the guidance from the state to get our season started.  Coaches will be getting their rosters this week and players should be contacted by their coaches no later than August 17th.  We will be coordinating equipment hand out and the season payment at the same time.  We will be accepting credit cards, checks, and cash.

2020 Covid-19 Football Response Plan

This is a general outline that was derived from the Coon Rapids High School football Covid-19 plan and will be followed by Coon Rapids Youth Football this season.  As always safety is everyone’s top priority.

Summer Youth Camp (July 27th-30th):

* This camp will abide by the same regulations stated in the Summer Practices.

  • Pods no greater than 25

  • Emphasizing social distancing and minimum contact

  • No drill will be longer than 10 minutes

  • Sanitize any equipment being used or shared - coaches have been district trained to clean

  • No water will be issued - kids must bring their own

Summer Practice:

  • We will ask The Minnesota Department of Health’s 4 essential questions to each athlete every single day
    • Had a temperature greater than 100.4
    • Experienced unusual shortness of breath
    • Experienced unusual body aches not associated with these workouts
    • Experienced a new cough
  • During practice, pod sizes will not exceed 25 athletes in any drill
  • Equipment will not be issued out to athletes such as: helmets, shoulder pads, girdles, etc.
  • The only equipment shared will be footballs but will be done in a limited manner.
    • Ex: A QB will use 1 ball and 1 ball only. He will be designated in a group in-which each athlete in that group will only use that ball. This will help us limit the amount of shared equipment as possible. Again, this group will be limited to 5-10 athletes - not exceeding the pod of 25.
    • Proper sanitation will be used to disinfect footballs after use.
  • No water will be issued to athletes - athletes will be instructed to bring their own water and told they cannot share with teammates.
  • There will be no continuous contact that exceeds a period of 15 min.
    • Furthermore, we will limit any contact as little as possible and make sure our athletes move away from each other when a drill is over.
  • Coaches will help assist athletes into pods and monitor social distancing.
    • Athletes who are not part of a drill will be designated to watch from the sideline. Coaches will organize groups and reassure social distancing is emphasized.
